11:11 Prison Support was proud to attend the launch of The Remand Collective, bringing together organisations committed to ending the unnecessary, unjust, unsafe and unfair use of remand for women.
We were pleased to contribute the experiences of women we have supported on remand. Through a focus group at HMP Styal, we captured their experiences in a visual mind map, highlighting challenges around housing, family contact, access to information and preparation for court.
The mind map was displayed at the launch, helping to ensure women’s voices were heard in discussions about change.
We thank the women who shared their experiences so openly. Their insights show why those directly affected by remand must be involved in shaping the decisions and services that affect their lives.
